HOW DOES IT WORK?
Using an ultrasonic scaler and small instruments, we will carefully remove the tartar from your teeth that often causes inflammation and bleeding gums. Then, we will use a specially designed laser that places a small amount of light in between the gum and tooth to promote the reduction of bacteria associated with the disease. Finally, we will thoroughly clean the teeth allowing the body to naturally heal itself.
DOES IT HURT?
Even though the procedure is relatively painless, we may use local anesthetic to ensure your utmost comfort. This will also allow us to precisely direct the laser for treatment allowing for optimal results. Laser gum therapy provides patients with a safer, more efficient and less painful treatment option compared to periodontal surgery.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
The length of your appointment will depend on the severity of your periodontal disease. It is possible that it may only take one visit to complete the entire procedure, while others may require multiple visits. We will discuss the estimated treatment time during your initial consultation.
DOES THIS TREATMENT COST MORE THAN TRADITIONAL GUM SURGERY?
While there are some factors that could affect the cost of surgery, like the severity of the disease and how many teeth are being treated, we use the same billing codes and conventional gum surgery
Laser gum therapy is ideal for patients looking for faster, more efficient and comfortable treatment. It is important to remember that many insurance plans only pay for a portion of treatment so we encourage you to become familiar with your insurance benefits prior to treatment. We will discuss payment options prior to treatment as well.
